Auditions are over! And TCNJ Taiko welcomes Generation 3:

TCNJ Taiko will be performing on 10/16/09 at the Chinese Culture Club’s Mid-Autumn Moon Festival! The Moon Festival will be taking place in Cromwell Main Lounge at 7pm – 9pm.

Also, we will be having our first Autumn Workshop. Created for prospective members of TCNJ Taiko, as well as those that are looking to add some fun and excitement to their Wednesday afternoons

TCNJ Taiko has scheduled our workshops and auditions for the upcoming year.

Sunday, September 13: 2-4PM in BSC202 W
Wednesday, September 16: 6-8PM in BSC202 E
Sunday, September 20: 2-4PM in BSC202 W
Wednesday, September 23: 6-8PM in BSC202 E

Auditions will be on September 27 from 2-4PM in BSC202 E.

A note for all those interested in auditioning: the more workshops you attend, the better your chances for an invitation to auditions!

This past Memorial Day weekend, TCNJ Taiko headed to the University of California, Irvine for the 15th annual Intercollegiate Taiko Invitational! We were able to learn and refine our technique, meet fellow taiko players, and have a lot of fun. Here’s to the next one!

TCNJ Taiko performed this past weekend at Mystique of the East, the annual culture show presented by the Asian American Association and the Pan-Asian Alliance. TCNJ Taiko premiered two new songs: “Seito” written and composed by Tim Falcone, and “Sanrenpu” written and composed by Matt Tom-Wolverton. TCNJ Taiko performed alongside groups such as TCNJ Saathiya, TCNJ Japanese Club, and TCNJ Chinese Culture Club.

Dec. 1st, 2008

Starting today, and going until Wed. the 3rd, we’ll be in the BSC Atrium from 11AM-2PM selling baked goods to raise money for drums! Stop by and support us!

Oct. 1st, 2008

Today we presented to TCNJ’s Student Government Association to gain club membership and we were unanimously passed! TCNJ Taiko is now an officially recognized club!!! : )

Well our first ever round of workshops and auditions have come and gone – thanks to all those who made it out! And we now have our 2nd Generation of TCNJ Taiko!!!

TCNJ Taiko is up and running…and holding workshops throughout the month of September!  No experience is necessary to attend, just a love for drums and making a lot of noise!  Our workshop schedule for September will be:

“Taiko 101″ – Wednesday, Sept. 10 @ 5:30 pm, Brower Student Center 202 E “Learn a Song!” - Friday, Sept. 12 @ 5:30 pm, outside near the Sundial (rain location: Brower Student Center, Pan-Asian Room) “More Than Just Big Drums” - Wednesday, Sept. 17 @ 5:30 pm, Brower Student Center 202 E “Audition Prep” - Friday, Sept. 19, @ 5:30 pm, Brower Student Center 202 E “Our Experience at Taiko Invitational” – Wednesday, Sept. 24 @ 6:30 pm, Brower Student Center, Pan-Asian Room TCNJ Taiko will be holding auditions at the end of the month.  For those interested in auditioning, it is highly recommended that you attend as many of these workshops as possible. Hey All!  Myself, Chris, and Steph recently went to Stanford University for the 14th Annual Intercollegiate Taiko Invitationals!  We learned a whole bunch and met so many great people – we cant wait to get back and share it all with you!
